How to Make the Most of Your Social Media Manager

You’ve taken the right step and hired a professional to manage your online marketing initiatives and create a buzz about your brand. That’s fantastic, and an important part of running your business.

But now what?

Some businesses take this opportunity to sit back and let their social media manager take over, without giving any further input. That’s one way to do it – after all, isn’t what why you hired them, so they could handle the social media and give you the time to focus on running the business? Absolutely. But with a bit of effort on your part, you can make the most of your social media manager and further improve your results:

Keep Them Updated:

Whether you’re having a sale, throwing an event, or offering a new service, keep them in the loop. It’s important to let your social media manager know anything and everything about your business, even if it seems unimportant or irrelevant. They’re representing your brand and engaging with the public so the more they know about your business, the better.

Ask Questions:

If you’re confused about how social media works, why certain platforms are important, or what a retweet is (and why you keep getting them) – just ask! Your social media manager is there to help you, so ask as many questions as you need to. In this case, there really is no such thing as a stupid question.

Give Them Access:

The best way for your social media manager to gauge how well a campaign is working is by giving them access to your website and all analytics available. With those tools, they can help track the success of each post and tweak their strategy accordingly for optimal results.

Give It Time:

It takes more than a few posts to build an online community and following. Don’t expect your numbers to skyrocket right away – all marketing initiatives take time to gain traction, and social media is no different. With the proper strategy in place, enagement and relationships will grow.

Get Their Feedback:

Keep in mind that you hired a professional, and take advantage of their expertise. If you have some great (and not-so-great) ideas for your social media accounts, be sure to run them past your manager and ensure that these ideas fit your brand and business goals. They’ll have a better grasp on what will make your brand look best online – with your input, of course.
